Headquarters Recruiting Zone (North East States), Shillong has been entrusted with the mandate of recruitment of Junior Commissioned Officers(JCOs) and Other Ranks (OR) into the Indian Army from the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram. It is responsible with planning, coordinating and conduct of recruitment rallies in the state. Six Army Recruiting Offices under its command, conduct the recruitment rallies in each State on its turn, contingent upon the consent and cooperation of civil administration to reach out to eligible candidates and ensure just, fair and equal opportunity to all.

It is our Dharma ‘to select the best candidate’ from those meeting the stipulated physical, medical and educational criteria. Headquarters Recruiting Zone (North East States),Shillong undertakes all the measures to achieve transparency, fair selection, candidate friendly recruitment process and ensures credibility of the process.Open recruitment rally is conducted in front of the general public / media, manned by recruiting Teams each headed by a Director ARO, medical officers, observed by independent officers detailed by local army formation Headquarters to ensure just, equal, fair and credible recruitment process. This is to assure candidate continues to be apprised of his performance at each stages of the rally. Each enrolment of a soldier goes through after an honest involvement of 22 officers at various stages of the recruitment process. I would like to assure the environment, that the selection system is totally merit based and honest. There is no place for any agent or tout. It is our endeavour to curb and eradicate the nefarious activities of the touts by constantly and continuously scrutinising, reviewing and updating our drills and procedures.
